The XI Ducks are still absolutely dominating the Tenterfield Cricket Association Seniors competition after another win on Wednesday night against the Short Fuses.

Mitch Austin and Jayson Murphy were in brilliant form and built a match-winning partnership after the XI Ducks lost early wickets. Austin brought up a half century while murphy kept the runs ticking over at the other end for a well-made 404 giving the XI a total of 5/125.

Jeremy Roberts of the Short Fuses bowled well taking 2/9 off his two overs. Scott Bates took 1/11 including a maiden over, and then along with Joe Brown tried valiantly to get the Short Fuses back into the game after they lost four wickets cheaply.

Brown top scored 24 and Bates made 16 runs, however, despite their efforts the the Short Fuses were bowled out for 77, well short of their target.

Matt Townes was the destroyer for XI Ducks, providing a blinder of a bowling spell, taking three wickets and conceding just a single run.

Tim Kelly also got among the wickets, taking 2/10 and Wisehart was giving nothing away, contributing a miserly spell of one for three.

Thursday night provided an extremely close match, the KLAS Bouncers sneaking home against the Telegraph Slammers by a mere two runs, scoring 8/122 as opposed to the Slammers 9/120.

Cam Bolton opened the batting for the KLAS Bouncers with a huge 49 runs while Pat Skinner backed him up with 19 runs. They were well supported by Sargeant, who made 17, and Parker who remained not out 14.

Andrew Stuart and Geoff Swan were the best of the Telegraph Slammers bowlers.

Stuart proved difficult to handle taking two for three in his only over while Geoff Swan took two wickets for nine runs. Binge, Patterson Tweedale and Dunks also got among the wickets.

Chasing 122 for victory the Slammers got off to a solid start with opener McIntosh making 16 runs, but when the middle order began to fall cheaply it required some clean hitting by Nathan Dunks 31 and Calib Hutchings 20 to keep the scoreboard ticking over and get the run chase back on track.

Down the order Stuart made vital runs as the Slammers edged closer to their target, but they couldn’t get over the line in their final over, falling just two runs short of the mark.

Steve Brown for the Bouncers had a pearler of bowling spell taking three for eight from his spell and also grabbing a catch and securing a run out.

Neil Savins also bowled well taking two wickets for five runs.

Skinner, 1/9 and Seargent, 1/11, also got among the wickets.
