Already undergoing a $5.7 million upgrade, Epsom Primary School could soon be in line for a new facility worth more than more $400,000.
City of Greater Bendigo councillors will be asked to back plans this Wednesday to build a community joint use building, which would be used for a playgroup, community group meeting and allied health purposes.
Principal Lyn Coulter said the facility would be a win for one of Bendigo’s fastest growing communities.
“There’s been so much growth in this northern corridor but there really isn’t the infrastructure here at the moment,” Mrs Coulter said.
“That’s why we approached council about ways to work together to deliver on some of those needs.”
The school and the state government aim to complete construction works by January 2018. Councillors will be asked to commit $365,000 to the facility in the next budget and a total of no more than half a million for the whole project. The school currently has 220 students – a figure expected to rise.
